Rescuers continue to put out the fire and eliminate the consequences.
The death toll in the fire at the Winter Cherry shopping center in Kemerovo has risen to 37, it was reported RIA News in the emergency response headquarters.
“According to updated data, 37 people died in a fire in the Winter Cherry shopping and entertainment center,” the agency’s interlocutor said. Earlier, a source in the region's emergency services reported that 69 people were missing, including 40 children.
The Winter Cherry shopping center in the center of Kemerovo caught fire on the afternoon of March 25. The fire started around 16:00 local time (04:00 New York time), and within 3 hours firefighters were only able to partially contain it. According to Deputy Governor of the Kemerovo Region Vladimir Chernov, the fire started in one of the cinema halls on the last, fourth floor of the shopping center. The fire then quickly spread to other floors. Rescuers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations working on the site fear that the building may collapse and affect neighboring buildings - people were also evacuated from there, writes “Medusa«.
Fire alarm did not work. Employees of the shopping center had to notify the visitors themselves. As a result, some were cut off from the exits; they had to jump out of the windows or get out onto the roof, from where firefighters rescued them using a ladder.

Streamer from Kemerovo tuned the radio to the negotiations of firefighters
Unknown young man organized on his YouTube-channel (judging by the design, he is a CS:GO streamer) broadcasting negotiations between rescuers who are putting out a fire in the Winter Cherry shopping center. According to him, he does not know how legal what he is doing is - but the channel that the rescuers use is open, he does not interfere in the negotiations, and he was allowed to take the walkie-talkie through customs, he writes TJournal.
On the third floor of the shopping center was a contact zoo. Probably all the animals died. In the zoo squirrels, rabbits, meerkats, ferrets, chinchillas, raccoons, hedgehogs, nose, fox, goats, snakes, tortoises, owls and other animals - almost all 200 animals of 25 species.
“The animals probably all died,” zoo manager Evgeny Videman told Meduza. “I was in the office [at the zoo], before that I was at the checkout, I went in, about 10 minutes later a girl, the administrator-cashier, ran in and said: “Evgeny Vladimirovich, people are running from the 4th floor and screaming that there is a fire.” What to do? Are we evacuating everyone?” I say: “Anya, we take the documents, take things, distribute them to everyone and leave.” I went into the hall and immediately told the workers and visitors: we’re taking people out and we’re going out ourselves,” he explained.

investigative committee aroused criminal case under three articles: causing death by negligence, violation of fire safety requirements, provision of services that do not meet safety requirements. No suspects have been detained in these cases. The head of the investigative committee, Alexander Bastrykin, took control of the case and transferred it to the central department of the department. The Mash telegram channel writes that the management of the shopping center considers the cause of the fire to be arson. The owner of the shopping center, as I found out The Bell, is Nadezhda Suddenok, who was previously elected as a deputy of the Topkinsky district of the Kemerovo region from United Russia.
