Two people were injured, and shoppers were evacuated from a mall in Orange County, New York on Sunday afternoon after the shots, according to a police report. He writes about it CBS New York.

New York State Police said it received reports of possible shots in Galleria in Crystal Run in Wallkill around 15 hours.

“We saw that everyone was running and shouting: “They’re shooting!” They're shooting! Run to the parking lot,” said shopping center worker Ali Naved.

Policemen Wallkill said that the shooting took place on the second floor of a shopping center, near the American store Eagle outfitters. Two people received minor injuries: 49-year-old woman from Goshen and her 12-year-old son. They were taken to Orange County Hospital in Middletown and released after medical care.

"The male, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and gray uniform, fired a handgun into the floor," Wallkill Police Chief Robert Hertman said.

The police said they could not say whether the shot was accidental or deliberate.

Armed police climbed to the second floor as soon as the shot sounded. The evacuation of thousands of buyers began, after which the shopping center was blocked and the police and the FBI began searching for the shooter.

“It seemed like something had fallen; like a chair or something just hit the floor,” said witness Grismailyn Almanzar. - That's how it sounded. There was only one shot."

Almanzar works in the store Macy's in the mall. First, she hid in a store, and then she shot a video on her phone, as people tried to help panicked customers escape into a safe place.

Police said that by Sunday evening, when inspecting the shopping center, officers still found some frightened buyers who were hiding in closed stores for several hours.
