In California, protests began because of the deportation of the nurse and her husband

Employees and residents of Oakland, California, came out to protest the deportation of illegal immigrant Maria Mendoza-Sanchez, a working nurse at a local hospital.

Hundreds of people came to the rally near the medical facility - all the hospital employees and even people she didn’t know, writes SF Gate.

15 August Mendoza-Sanchez, her husband Eusebio Sanchez, also an illegal immigrant, and their 12-year-old son, a US citizen, will go to Mexico, where they have not been more than 20 years. Their three eldest daughters with legal status in the United States will remain in America.

The protesters were outraged that people who had no previous convictions were subject to deportations, ICE, in turn, stated that the proceedings in this case were very lengthy and that Sanchez had no legal basis for staying in the United States.

After immigration officials said in May that the couple had three months to make arrangements for their trip to Mexico, Maria and Eusebio decided their best option was to take their 12-year-old son Jesus with them and leave their three daughters, who were 16, 21 and 23 years old. The two younger daughters are U.S. citizens, while the eldest daughter is protected by a program under which immigrants brought to the U.S. at a young age have the right to remain in the country. Before leaving, Maria and Eusebio transferred parental rights to their 16-year-old Elizabeth to their eldest daughter, Vianney.

The family made all possible efforts to avoid deportation, but they did not produce results, and the couple’s lawyer believes that their deportation is a signal that the Donald Trump administration intends to send all illegal immigrants out of the country, regardless of whether they have a criminal record or not. .
