Ukrainian Parliament Officially Calls Russian Regime 'Rashism' and Defines Its Characteristics

On May 2, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a statement “On defining the political regime existing in the Russian Federation as rashism and condemning its ideological foundations and social practices as totalitarian and misanthropic,” reports “Radio Liberty".

“Today we adopted an important statement by which the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine condemned racism as an ideology and practice that underlies the state policy of the Russian Federation,” Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk wrote on Facebook.

In a statement, the Parliament of Ukraine appeals to the UN, the European Parliament, PACE, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, governments and parliaments of foreign states with a call to support the condemnation of the ideology, policy and practice of rashism.

The Verkhovna Rada also calls on the international community to take real measures to hold the military-political leadership of Russia accountable for the crime of aggression, war crimes, crimes against humanity and the crime of genocide against Ukraine and its people, as the speaker said.

According to the adopted statement, the signs of rashism are: militarism, the personality cult of the head and the sacralization of state institutions, the self-aggrandizement of the Russian Federation through violent oppression and / or denial of the existence of other peoples, the imposition of the Russian language and culture on other peoples, propaganda of the ideas of the “Russian world”, the systematic violation of norms and principles of international law, the sovereign rights of other states, their territorial integrity and internationally recognized borders.

The Verkhovna Rada plans to appeal to the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Justice and other departments of Ukraine in order to "immediately" take "measures to respond to manifestations of the ideology and policy of rashism on the territory of Ukraine."
