Ukraine asks the United States to help create police special forces

US Deputy Secretary of State William Brownfield said that Ukraine has asked the United States to help create a SWAT-based unit. “The government of Ukraine invited us to help in the work to create a specialized police unit based on SWAT,” he noted.

Brownfield explained the scheme for the participation of American police in the training of Ukrainian colleagues. According to him, first, the United States trains mentors, who then later train the Ukrainian police. In particular, this applies to cities such as Odessa and Kharkov, where American instructors from California and other states work.

We add that in Ukraine they are working on the creation of Korda (Corps of operational-sudden action) - an elite police special forces quick response of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. CORD is designed to replace all existing units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, combining them into one, similar to the American SWAT.

As Brownfield noted, the creation of a new police force will allow Ukraine to become a safer country.
