The American family adopted a small Ukrainian girl with Down syndrome - the girl grew up and gained American fame.

Over the past month, this video posted on Facebook has been watched by several million people.

Jennifer and Hector Sanchez adopted her when Sophia was 16 months. She became part of a family in which one of the children already had Down syndrome.

“We were able to give our boy a sister who understands him and looks like him, and they can go through their journey together,” said Sophia’s adoptive mother.

The Sanchez family has become part of a movement to convince society to think differently about people like Sofia.

“She has taken her own initiative to become an advocate for these people, demonstrating how much they love life,” Jennifer Sanchez said.
