UN Special Envoy calls for resolution of conflict in Jerusalem until July 28

“If the current crisis is not resolved before the new cycle of Friday prayers, the threat of escalation on the ground will increase,” Mladenov warned.

The tension between the conflicting parties grew after Two armed Arab attackers 14 July shot two Israeli police near the Temple Mount. The attackers were killed after persecution in a sacred place for believers.
At the same time, the Israeli side intensified security measures in East Jerusalem, in particular, metal detectors were installed at the entrance to the Temple Mount. Israel called it a necessary measure after the attackers managed to bring weapons to a sacred place.
