The most dangerous countries in the world for American travelers

Even the most adventurous tourist, as a rule, is not ready to gamble with his life while on vacation, so he tries not to visit dangerous countries. But it is worth remembering that a country can be recognized as dangerous for various reasons.

Here, for example, in the past month. Priceonomics published a report on the most dangerous countries in the world for Americans. The report reviewed the number of travel warnings issued by the State Department, the number of Americans killed abroad, and the effectiveness of these warnings.

Although the State Department issued many warnings about the train to Mexico, Mali, and Israel over the past few years, Americans were actually more often killed or harmed by them in Honduras, Thailand, and Pakistan.

From 2009 to 2017, Mexico topped the list of most travel warnings, although tourist areas such as Mexico City and the Yucatan Peninsula are considered safe.

When the data is adjusted to reflect perished Americans per capita, Pakistan turns out to be the most dangerous country. Next come Thailand, the Philippines, Haiti and Honduras.

The rest of the dangerous countries on the list, as a rule, struggle with international conflict, terrorism, or drug cartels.
