Russia promised to respond to new US sanctions

Russia will look for a symmetrical response to new US sanctions, said Russia's Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev.

“These sanctions are personal in nature, they are directed against individual individuals and individual companies and are not sectoral in nature, therefore, I think that we will look for some kind of symmetrical answer here,” Ulyukaev said.

Ulyukaev did not comment on how much Western sanctions have already cost the Russian economy.

“How much the sanctions cost the Russian economy is a complex question; there are short-term consequences associated with financial markets and exchange rates, but there are also more positive long-term consequences associated with import substitution and support for production,” the minister explained.

Recall that in early September, the US authorities announced that they were imposing sanctions against a number of companies from Russia in connection with violations of the non-proliferation law (nuclear weapons) against Iran, the DPRK and Syria.

В "black list" included the Tula Instrument Design Bureau, the Katod company, NPO Mashinostroeniya, MiG Corporation, Rosoboronexport.

The sanctions also apply to their “successors, divisions and subsidiaries.” The Russian Foreign Ministry promised to take retaliatory measures to these sanctions.
