Russian Foreign Ministry: in the course of the battle in Syria, hit dozens of citizens of Russia and CIS countries

The Russian Foreign Ministry has officially confirmed that several dozen Russians and citizens of other CIS countries were injured in Syria, and some of them died. The exact number of dead and wounded office does not lead.

Agency RIA News previously reported that we are talking specifically about the deaths of Russians and immigrants from the CIS, but from the message on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website it follows that we are talking about “several dozen” wounded, and there is no new information about the dead, writes Air force.

“During the recent military clash, in which military personnel of the Russian Federation did not participate in any way and standard technical means were not used, there were killed citizens of Russia and the CIS countries, this has already been said, there are also wounded - there are several dozen of them,” the message says.

“As already noted, there are Russian citizens in Syria who went there of their own free will and for different purposes. It is not the job of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assess the competence and legality of such decisions,” the department notes.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that it has information about the possible death of five Russians in Syria as a result of an air strike by a coalition led by the United States and the presence of casualties. At the same time, the official representative of the department, Maria Zakharova, stated that there were no servicemen among the dead Russians.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview with the BBC that information about hundreds of dead Russians is “an attempt to speculate on the war,” and the attempts, in his words, are “not very correct.”

Last week, the media reported on the possible defeat of a Russian detachment from the so-called private military company (PMC) Wagner in Syria. Various Russian and foreign publications wrotethat all there could have perished from 11 to several hundred Russians.
