Heavy rains, which lasted more than one hour, in some areas of Houston on Independence Day caused flooding, which made residents remember about last year’s hurricane Harvey.
According to the National Weather Service, due to rain, some areas of Harris County, which includes Houston, were under 15 cm water.
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said some parts of the city were covered with 20 cm of water.
A concert and festival dedicated to the Fourth of July was canceled in the city, and many residents watched fireworks from home.
Victor Adams made several videos of a bus in the Houston subway, shooting water on flooded streets.
Anna Silva filmed the first motorists driving through a flooded street west of Houston on Wednesday.
Some tried to walk on water.
Echoes harvey
The flooding was reminiscent of Hurricane Harvey last August, when unprecedented 50 inches (127 cm) of rain fell in parts of Texas in less than four days. Record rainfall caused catastrophic flooding in the Houston area, taking dozens of lives and causing billions of dollars in damage.
