New York is changing gender-neutral messages on the subway
Transport company Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) decided to make ads in the new york metro gender-neutral, writes NBC News.
Instead of "ladies and gentlemen," the company introduces gender-neutral phrases, such as "passengers" and "all."
One employee said that in this way the transport company “is trying to be politically correct,” while an ITA spokesman said that the solution takes into account gender issues.
In addition, pre-recorded messages about the delay or changes in the train schedule will be eliminated. Now all the reasons will be explained in real time.
“We are fundamentally changing the way we communicate with passengers to provide them with better and clearer information,” an MTA spokesperson said.
