Komsomolskaya Pravda was the first to release this news with reference to its sources, after which it was reprinted by other media. Later, the message was repeatedly refuted. The fact that Dmitry Hvorostovsky is alive on his page in Facebook His wife also wrote: “My husband is fine and sleeping next to me!”

Recall that the singer has been struggling with cancer for over two years. In June, 2015, a brain tumor was found in Hvorostovsky. He underwent a course of treatment and returned to the stage in September of the same year, performing the main part in Giuseppe Verdi’s The Troubadour at the New York Metropolitan Opera.

In December last year, Khvorostovsky announced his refusal to participate in opera productions "in the foreseeable future." “I had problems with balance due to my illness, so it’s quite difficult for me to perform in performances,” the singer explained. That same month, he was hospitalized with pneumonia.

In September, 2016, the artist refused to participate in the play "Simon Boccanegra" in Vienna due to the upcoming chemotherapy course.

Born in 1962 in Krasnoyarsk, Khvorostovsky graduated from a pedagogical school and the Institute of Arts, and from 1985 to 1990, he was a soloist with the Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theater. Then he performed in the world's leading opera houses, since 1994 he lived in London. Awarded the title of People's Artist of Russia.
