A man fell overboard a cruise liner and spent a day in the water
A Norwegian Cruise Line crew member fell overboard last Saturday and was miraculously found alive 22 hours later by crew on Carnival's Glory cruise ship.
The US Coast Guard was informed of the missing 33-year-old crew member who was seen falling from the Getaway around 30 miles (48 kilometers) from Pinar del Rio, a province in western Cuba, reports Fox News.
An aerial search was launched 10 minutes after the man fell into the water, but neither the man nor his body was found. By nightfall they decided to stop the search. Almost a day later, the missing man was spotted alive 21 miles (about 34 kilometers) north of Cuba - he was seen by the crew of the Carnival's Glory ship. The ship had to be turned around to save the man.
Now the victim is in a stable condition. It is not yet known how he managed to keep afloat for two dozen hours, falling overboard without life-saving equipment. Carnival's Glory ship left the Miami on June 24 for an eight-day cruise. The rescue of a crew member of the Norwegian Cruise Line was on the last day of the trip.
