How Trump golf clubs workers made out fake documents and hid from the Secret Service

Former employee of the US President’s Donald Trump Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, Emma Torres claims that she was removed from the list of employees before checking the Secret Service after she reminded management that she was in the States illegally. She told about this in an interview for The New York Times.

After the scandal with illegal workers in New Jersey, many people who have no documents were fired from the golf club. Prior to this, some illegal immigrants worked for years in the same place, although employers knew perfectly well that their documents were false.

Emma Torres illegally came to the United States from Ecuador. She worked at Trump Golf Club as a cook. The woman claims that all kitchen personnel in 2016 were asked to provide their names, addresses, and other data, including social security numbers, for the Secret Service to verify.

This golf club was Trump's favorite vacation and business meeting place.

“When I learned that the Secret Service would see all the data, I rushed to the personnel department. I didn’t know what to do, ”says Torres.

She told her boss that she was in the US illegally. In response, the authorities reported that there were no problems. Torres removed from the list of employees. Then the boss asked her who else from the staff of the golf club is illegal. Torres called their names. Previously, these people provided fake green cards and fake social security numbers. Emma claims that she doesn’t know how her leadership used the list of illegal immigrants further, but all these people remained at work and didn’t fire anyone.

There is no evidence that Trump knew about the illegal status of his golf club employees. But stopping illegal immigration, reducing the flow of migrants across the border and deportation of illegal immigrants living inside the country were the main priorities of his administration. Trump demanded $ 5 billion in funding to build a wall along the border between the United States and Mexico, in order to block the flow of illegal immigrants.

In a statement for the Times from 7 in December, the Trump organization, which owns a golf club in New Jersey, pledged to dismiss all employees who had fake documents.

Managers at the golf club and Trump International did not respond to journalists' inquiries about the account of Emma Torres. Katie L. Milkhoan, a secret service spokeswoman, said she could not provide information on the measures taken to check the staff of the golf club.

Torres, taking a job in 2016, also presented a fake green card and social security number during the interview. But she was accepted for work, and the documents were copied for personal use. First, Emma was a cleaner, but then began to complain to management about the abuse from the head, after which she was transferred to the kitchen. There she worked as a dishwasher, in the end she managed to go all the way to the assistant chef. Torres earned $ 14.50 per hour.

Emma said that she made sandwiches for the Secret Service when they visited the golf club for the purpose of inspections. She also claims that Trump often praised her work and tipped when she was cleaning. But she, like many other employees, had Trump’s humiliating comments about immigrants.

“I felt that I was in the lion's den. I had to leave, ”says Emma.

She quit the golf club in 2017 and found another job.

Another employee, Quiz Morales, said that when her first fake green card expired, the club manager arranged for her to make a new one. He even lent her money for it.

According to sources in The New York Times, Trump golf clubs conduct extensive personnel checks. As a result, dozens of people were fired.

A lawyer representing some former illegal employees, Anibal Romero, contacted the office of the New Jersey Attorney General and the office of Special Counsel Robert Muller in October. After this, Muller’s office transferred the case to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Romero claims that, among other things, he also sent fake documents that the manager helped get to Quizna Morales.

Neither state nor federal authorities have confirmed that they are conducting a full-scale investigation into this matter.
