Hawaii is preparing a plan of action in case of a nuclear attack of North Korea
Hawaii is preparing to submit an action plan in case the DPRK launches an intercontinental ballistic missile for this state.
Local authorities are preparing an appropriate information campaign for residents about the steps that need to be taken immediately, since the North Korean rocket can reach the state within 20 minutes, writes USA Today.
“We don’t want to cause unnecessary stress to residents. However, we must prepare for any risks,” the State Emergency Management Agency said in a statement.
The authorities have developed several variants of an emergency plan, the worst of which involves the explosion of a 15-kiloton nuclear charge at a height of 1000 feet (300 meters) above Honolulu.
At the same time, the Hawaii Tourism Board expressed concern that reports of a preparation plan for a possible attack might be misinterpreted. The ministry suggests that this may lead to a decline in the tourist flow, which, in turn, will affect local residents, whose incomes largely come from tourism.
In this case, the Office of Tourism noted that the real threat of attack is very low.
