CIA declassified documents about September 11 attacks
According to the declassified internal documents of the CIA, the department officials are convinced that the program of arrests and interrogations provided for “unique and invaluable intelligence”, but some of them express serious doubts about this and warn about the danger of compromising documents that could raise questions about the legality of the program.
On Tuesday, the CIA published a package of several hundred pages of 50 documents in response to a request made in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act. Many documents are published with bills, and sometimes hidden entire pages with information about the sender, recipients and dates.
Former President George W. Bush sanctioned the program six days after the September 11 attacks, to arrest and interrogate al-Qaida’s militants, receiving information designed to prevent new attacks.
