American company broke contract with Russian athlete due to visit to Donbass
The American sports nutrition company, whose face for more than two years was the youngest champion Mariana Naumova, broke the contract with her.
According to the father of the athlete Alexander Naumov, previously dissatisfied with her trips to the Donbass, social network users wrote complaints to the sponsor Mariana. According to him, this was the reason for the decision of the American company to terminate the contract.
“The fact is that they have long expressed dissatisfaction with Maryana’s trips to Donbass. And literally about a week ago, we were informed by correspondence that the contract with Maryana was no longer being renewed. Before this, they wrote to us a lot on social networks, writing complaints about us to the organizers of the competition, our sponsor company, and, apparently, these complaints had an effect and they don’t want to see us there anymore,” said the champion’s father.
He also noted that Mariana is “on the list of terrorists of the Security Service of Ukraine,” so they fear that problems may arise with traveling to competitions in the United States.
“We are not allowed to enter Ukraine, Maryana is on the list of terrorists of the Security Service of Ukraine now, we have not been allowed into Australia, we are planning to go to America in September, but they may not let us in, although we have an open visa. The coach was not given a visa in March, our visa may not be extended,” he said.
Four-time world champion, 16-year-old Mariana Naumova visited the Donetsk region of Ukraine several times.
