A well-known lawyer for women's rights, Lisa Bloom, tried to obtain compensation for women who, at the end of the presidential election campaign in 2016, declared sexual harassment by Donald Trump.

Bloom, who has helped dozens of women in high-profile harassment cases, represented four women who were considering going public with allegations of harassment by Trump. Two of them went public with accusations, two refused.

The lawyer admitted that she had indeed participated in debates about compensation for women who had accused Trump of harassment.

“Donors reached out to my firm directly to help some of the women I represented,” Bloom said.

She added that she did not offer compensation to women in order to force them to publicly speak out against Trump, but rather to help them thus ensure their safety in case they were afraid to publicly accuse the presidential candidate of harassment.

She noted that she represents the interests of victims of sexual harassment for free or at reduced rates, but she also acknowledged that the standard contract that she signs with clients assumes that the lawyer will receive 33% of the compensation she will get for her clients they will sell their media story.

“Our standard legal fee agreement stipulates that if a media entity offers to compensate a client for publicly telling their story, we receive a percentage of those funds. This rarely happens. But sometimes a case generates interest in the press,” she said.

Bloom added that her law firm is private, she needs to pay taxes, bills and salaries, therefore, in her opinion, the idea of ​​obtaining a percentage of compensation for her clients is quite fair.

She also added that she had no contact with the campaign of Trump's opponent in the election, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, while searching for donors for compensation.
