For the first time in history, transgender will speak at the Democratic convention

For the first time at the national convention of the Democratic Party in Philadelphia, a transgender speech will be delivered.

Sarah McBride, National Press Secretary for the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, will speak on Thursday, July 28.

“Sarah's inclusion in Thursday's program is an important milestone for our community and a strong signal that their voices matter,” said foundation President Chad Griffin.

McBride said she was "honored" by the opportunity to share her story.

“People need to understand that even people like us face harassment, tragic violence, and political onslaught and attacks against the LGBT community every day across the country. We are real people and strive to be treated with the dignity and respect that every person deserves,” she said in a statement. “I am so proud to stand with the LGBT Fund and speak out in support of Hillary Clinton because we know she is with us.”

Chad Griffin, who will also speak at the convention, said the event would show a clear contrast between the Democratic and Republican parties.

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation officially endorsed Clinton back in January 2016.

On Monday, the 4-day Democratic Party Congress starts in the United States, at which Hillary Clinton will be officially nominated as a presidential candidate.

The convention will take place in an atmosphere aggravations internal party contradictions caused by the leakage of a scandalous collection of emails that threaten to prevent Democrats from creating an impression of party unity.
