The vice-speaker of the State Duma offered the Russians to drink hawthorn tincture instead of drugs from the US
State Duma Vice Speaker Pyotr Tolstoy suggested that Russians drink hawthorn tincture and brew oak bark instead of drugs from the United States and other countries that may be under sanctions imposed by Moscow in response to Western sanctions against Russia.
Statement was made on air “60 Minutes” program on the “Russia-1” TV channel.
Russian politician Boris Nadezhdin noted that the government’s proposed response could hit tens of millions of Russian citizens who lose access to medicines.
“The problem is that this law really creates problems not for American businesses, but for tens of millions of Russian citizens. Here are just two things. First: medications. You see, what a story: I’m already an old man, I take different medications. Unfortunately, life is arranged in such a way that these drugs are made in the countries of a potential enemy. Mainly from Germany, Japanese now from pressure,” said Nadezhdin, noting that in Soviet times it was difficult for him to deal with hypertension.
In response to this, Tolstoy advised from hypertension “to brew oak bark or drink hawthorn”.
Nadezhdin confessed that he was taking drugs made in France and in Switzerland, and they could get under Russian sanctions, because these countries supported the American sanctions against Russia.
“I’m telling you – hawthorn, and these – spit!” said Tolstoy.
