Vakarchuk turned 40 years, and he became an honorary citizen of Kiev

The legendary Ukrainian cultural figure, leader of the rock group “Okean Elzy” Svyatoslav Vakarchuk celebrates his 14th anniversary on May 40.

Svyatoslav Vakarchuk was born 14 in May 1975 of the year in Mukachevo, Transcarpathian region, in the family of a physicist, the future rector of Lviv University and Minister of Education of Ukraine Ivan Vakarchuk.

He graduated from the Lviv school number 4 with in-depth study of the English language with a silver medal. For two years he studied at the music school, violin class, at the same time studying the game on the accordion.

In 1991-1996 he studied at the Faculty of Physics of the Ivan Franko Lviv National University (specialization - theoretical physics). Second higher education - international economist.

The Ocean Elzy group, thanks to whose creativity Vakarchuk became famous, was created in 1994 year.

Vakarchuk was an active participant in the 2004-2005 Orange Revolution and the 2013-14 Dignity Revolution.

The capital city council awarded Vakarchuk the title of “Honorary Citizen of Kiev”.
