In the Russian plane struck by lightning landing

In Russia, Sheremetyevo Airport, on a Boeing 737, was struck by lightning. The incident occurred at the moment when the aircraft was landing.

Despite hitting an electrical discharge, the plane successfully landed, none of the passengers and crew members was injured. Already during the post-flight inspection, experts found out that the zipper slightly touched the coating of the locator, it was not possible to detect other damage.

Experts decided that the incident did not damage the flight capabilities of the aircraft, so he continued to perform flights as usual.

We add that the occurrence of lightning in aircraft is not so rare. So, in March 2012, an electrical discharge hit the Airbus 321, which was supposed to fly from Sochi to Moscow. The pilot, sensing the ingress of a thunderstorm discharge due to the behavior of the instruments, refused to lift the winged car into the air before carrying out a full and thorough test of the Airbus. However, none of the passengers was hurt.

But a lightning strike on the wing of the plane that landed at the airport of the Turkish city of Izmir in January 2013 almost led to the tragedy - one of the aircraft’s engines caught fire. Fortunately, the crash was avoided: the pilots managed to make a hard landing, and none of the 112 passengers aboard were injured.
