In New York, a man cut his throat with two of his children and held them for over an hour

The emotionally unstable father from the Bronx tried to kill his son and daughter by cutting their throats and then barricaded themselves in his house for more than an hour.

The incident began around 22: 50 28 in May, when 43-year-old Carlos Camilo fell out with his wife at their home in Kingsbridge on Irwin Avenue. A woman ran out of the house and called 911, reports New York Daily News.

According to police, Camilo slit the throat of his 18-year-old daughter and attacked his 12-year-old son. Both teenagers survived. He also cut himself, police sources said.

Sources said that Camilo had barricaded himself in the house and told his wife on the phone that the police should not come near him.

It is unclear how the police entered the apartment, but around midnight Camilo was taken into custody without incident and taken to hospital.

A law enforcement source said that the dispute between Camilo and his wife began when a woman told him to leave.

He was charged with attempted murder, assault, threat, harassment and endangering children.
