Hurricane Irma: in Puerto Rico, with no light left over a million people. VIDEO
On Thursday, hurricane center Irma was located approximately 225 km (145 miles) northwest of San Juan, Puerto Rico, heading northwest at 26 km (16 miles) per hour towards the Dominican Republic.
More than half of the island of Puerto Rico was left without electricity, more than a million people were left without water, the US emergency management agency reported.
At 14 hospitals, generators were used after losing electricity, and trees and poles were scattered along the roads.

The US National Weather Service said that Puerto Rico had not seen such a strong hurricane as Irma since 1928. Then, a total of 2748 people died in Hurricane San Felipe in Guadeloupe, Puerto Rico, and Florida.
Puerto Rico Public Energy Company, which reduced the number of workers due to the economic crisis, warned that it would take 4-6 months to restore electricity in some areas because of poor infrastructure.
Meanwhile, EPA officials said their biggest problem was oil spills and power failures in water systems.
“No matter what precautions we take, coastal flooding will impact oil tanks,” said Catherine McCabe, regional administrator.
President Donald Trump this week introduced a state of emergency for the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. This means that the Federal Emergency Management Agency and other agencies can provide infrastructure restoration services, which will mainly be paid for by the US government.
