Participants of the "naked action" in Auschwitz received a term

A court in Polish Auschwitz sentenced 12 activists to real terms for a naked protest in the territory of the Auschwitz concentration camp.

As writes edition NEWS, in March, 2017, 12, young people from Belarus, Ukraine, Poland and Germany slaughtered a ram and were photographed naked near the former death camp. They were photographed near the inscription “Work frees”, where the word “work” was closed with a poster with the inscription “love”. The meaning of the action, according to activists, was to protest against military conflicts and bloodshed.

The young people were detained on the spot and put on trial under the article “desecration of a holy place.” The organizer of the action was Adam Bialyatsky, the son of a Belarusian oppositionist. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison. His friend Nikita Volodko was sentenced to 14 months in a Polish prison. In addition, each of them was sentenced to pay a fine of $600 for killing the animal.

The remaining 10 participants received provocations by year of community service.

“We came to the site of the massacres of people in Auschwitz to express our protest against the wars that are happening in the world. We are especially concerned about the war in neighboring Ukraine and Syria. We took off our clothes and declared a manifesto, knelt and prayed to contain military conflicts. This is our civic position, and we wanted to be heard,” theater director Dmitry Chertkov told the Belarusian editorial office of Euroradio before the trial, writes Air force.

According to him, the participants in the action were naked because “the people who were massacred in Auschwitz were also without clothes.”

The protesters say they wanted to "draw attention to the fact that people learned nothing from what happened at Auschwitz" and did not want to desecrate the memory of more than a million concentration camp victims.
