The family of the former mayor of Khabarovsk, found six houses in the US

According to the headquarters, all this time, city hall officials appropriated city property and bought expensive real estate at the expense of the budget. In particular, the family of Sokolov himself acquired five homes in California and one in Washington state. Their total cost, as alleged in the investigation, exceeds 6 million dollars, writes “Radio Liberty".

Each year, the Sokolov family in the US pays about 50 thousand dollars in taxes.

At the same time, the authors of the investigation note that according to the declaration of the former mayor, he and his wife earned about a million dollars in 18 years.

The investigation also lists a large number of real estate properties owned by officials close to Sokolov and their relatives. It is alleged that they built for themselves a cottage village in the protected zone of the Bolshekhekhtsirsky Reserve - on the land that was originally allocated for the construction of a recreation center.

Vladimir Aleshko, head of the Khabarovsk municipal district, who allocated land for cottages, as a result, lost his position, but the rest of the officials had no problems.

In addition, the headquarters of Navalny claim that thanks to Sokolov, his acquaintance Vladimir Kolesnikov bought 2007% of the shares of one of the largest municipal enterprises at a greatly reduced price in December: 75 million rubles (168 million) instead of 2,6 million (400 million).

Alexander Sokolov, a member of the political council of the Khabarovsk organization of the United Russia party, was elected mayor of Khabarovsk in 2000, after which he was re-elected to this position four times. He did not put forward his candidacy in the 2018 elections.

From 2012 to 2017, the year Sokolov was a member of the Council on Local Self-Government under the President of Russia.
