US and EU identify circumvention schemes for anti-Russian sanctions
Western countries that have imposed sanctions on Russia now collect information about the schemes used to circumvent the restrictions.
Western diplomatic sources do not directly talk about introducing new sanctions against Russian citizens and companies if such schemes are discovered, but emphasize that “all levers can be used.”
Market participants acknowledge the existence of detours - primarily in engineering.
However, it is not possible to find confirmation of their widespread use, especially against the backdrop of the active desire of Western suppliers to continue working with Russian buyers.
A European diplomatic source said the US has good experience in finding such workarounds. “For many years, they thoroughly studied all the tricks and tricks that Iranian companies resorted to, bypassing the bans and barriers provided for by Western sanctions. If there is political will, such channels can be closed, including for Russia,” he emphasized.
