North Korea launched a rocket capable of reaching American bases

North Korea on Friday morning local time launched another rocket that flew over Japanese territory and fell into the sea, covering a distance of approximately 3600 km in 19 minutes, reports “Voice of America"with reference to Japanese and South Korean authorities.

Observers noted that the latest rocket flew far enough to get to the American island of Guam in the Pacific Ocean, located 3400 km from Pyongyang.

The UN Security Council is going to discuss the next launch of the DPRK rocket on Friday 15 September at 15 hours according to the time of the US Eastern Coast. The Council will meet at the request of the United States and Japan.

The Pentagon said that the US military had detected the launch of a medium-range ballistic missile by the North Koreans. The rocket did not carry any threat to North America or the US territory of Guam, located in the Pacific Ocean.

According to the agency YonhapThe rocket reached its maximum flight altitude in 770 km.

As was the case with the launch of the 29 ballistic missile in August, the rocket launched on Friday flew over the island of Hokkaido in Japan and landed in the waters of the Pacific Ocean.

State Minister of the Government of Japan Yoshihide Suga said that people had been warned to hide when sirens sounded, calling the incident a blatant provocation.

On Thursday, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who is on a visit to the United Kingdom, expressed the hope that China will come to a decision on using oil supplies to the DPRK as a “powerful tool” to persuade North Korea to reconsider its current course.

During a visit to London, where he met with British Prime Minister Theresa May and Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, Tillerson said the United States wanted to see much tighter UN Security Council sanctions against North Korea than those that were adopted last year. Monday:

“It is clear that it will be very difficult to achieve a full oil embargo through the UN Security Council,” he said. “In fact, only China will be discussed, because only China supplies virtually all of its oil to North Korea,” Tillerson added at a joint press conference with Johnson.

The United States and South Korea technically remain at war with North Korea since the days of the Korean conflict 1950-1953, which ended with the signing of an armistice agreement, not a peace treaty.

A proposal to introduce new sanctions against North Korea was made by the United States. In Washington, they explained this with the response to the launch of intercontinental ballistic missiles by Pyongyang.
