Sergey Lavrov accused the United States of conducting an "aggressive" policy

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that President Obama’s appeal “On the state of affairs in the country” reflects the desire of the United States to dominate the world.

With this statement, Lavrov spoke on Wednesday 21 January, before the meeting in Berlin, dedicated to the Ukrainian crisis. He also argued that the United States took an “aggressive” course, but stressed that Moscow continues to cooperate with the West in the fight against terrorism, despite tensions over the situation in Ukraine.

Recall that in his address to Congress, President Obama said that the United States and its allies successfully defended their positions, while Russia found itself in isolation, and its economy was in decay. The Russian economy has suffered significant losses, largely due to Western sanctions imposed in connection with the Ukrainian crisis.

Later on Wednesday, Lavrov will meet with representatives of the leadership of Ukraine, France and Germany. He said that negotiations would focus on withdrawing heavy weapons from the front line in Ukraine, where clashes between the Ukrainian government forces and pro-Russian separatists flared up with a new force.

Lavrov again rejected accusations that Russia is supporting the separatists.

Last Tuesday, the Ukrainian side said that Russian regular troops attacked units of the Ukrainian armed forces fighting with the separatists in the Lugansk region. The Russian side denies this, writes Voice of America.
