Parents received a sentence for the rat-bitten baby
In Arkansas 5, the prison years were Erik Shrike and Charles Elliott because their two-week daughter was bitten by a rat. Writes Arkansas Online, parents pleaded guilty to child abuse.
Shrike and Elliot can count on parole after 304 days, they have already spent the 293 day in prison. The pair’s advocate stated that they would most likely be released from custody within 30 days.
The case says that on May 14 the parents woke up and found their daughter in the blood and with dozens of traces of a rat bite on her hands, fingers, face. On the forehead there was a wound in 2,5 centimeters and the bone of the skull was visible. The girl needs surgery.
The court found these people to be sane, despite the presence of mental illness and sexual and physical abuse experienced in childhood.
Shrike admitted that she used marijuana and methamphetamine, and she also used Tylenol with codeine for a week, before the arrest. Elliot admitted that he smoked marijuana just before the arrest and used methamphetamine last year.
The girl was adopted by another family.
