These are John Hoven (North Dakota), John Tyune (South Dakota), Richard Shelby (Alabama), Johnny Eisakson (Georgia) and John Buzman (Arkansas). All of them are current legislators.

At the same time, an influential Democratic senator, Charles Schumer, wins in New York State.

Thus, the only state that the Democratic Party managed to recapture is Illinois. There, Tammi Dacuort beat her Republican rival Mark Kirk. In this case, the Democrats have hope of success in Pennsylvania and Missouri. At the moment, the party belongs to the 44 vote in the Senate.
