Putin: Russia will not fight with Ukraine
Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected the possibility of war with Ukraine, calling such a scenario apocalyptic.
“I think that such an apocalyptic scenario is hardly possible, and I hope that it will never come to that,” Putin said in an interview with the Rossiya-1 TV channel.
At the same time, according to the Russian leader, the Ukrainian authorities should improve relations with the residents of the south-east of the country.
“The leadership of such a large European country as Ukraine, first of all, must return the country to normal life, improve the economy, the social sphere, improve its relations with the southeast of the country in a civilized manner, ensure the legal rights and interests of the people who live in the Donbass, for example ", Putin said.
Commenting on the statement of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko about his intention to return Crimea annexed by Russia, Putin emphasized that these, in his opinion, are “things of a revanchist nature.”
Despite accusations from Kiev and the Western powers, Moscow continues to deny any involvement in the events in the south-east of Ukraine.
