Putin swept Kerry: There is no one to help the Secretary of State carry the suitcase. Video
John Kerry’s visit to Moscow yesterday began with Vladimir Putin’s joke about the suitcase of an American guest.
“Today, when I saw you getting off the plane and carrying your things, I was a little upset - on the one hand, this is very democratic, but on the other hand, I think: apparently, things are really bad in the USA - there is no one to help the Secretary of State with his suitcase convey. It seems that everything is fine in the economy, there are no big cuts,” Putin said, smiling.
Representatives of both sides smiled, and Putin continued his humorous speech further.
“Then I thought: maybe there was something in this case that you couldn’t trust anyone with. Apparently, they brought the money so that we could bargain. But seriously, we are really glad to see you,” Putin continued.
After such jokes, Kerry diplomatically replied: “Thank you very much, Mr. President. When we can talk face to face, I will show you what I have in my briefcase. I think this will surprise you. It will be a pleasant surprise."
At the end of the meeting with Putin, John Kerry reacted to the jokes of the head of the Kremlin. However, he did not admit to journalists what was in his mysterious suitcase, the contents of which Putin was so interested in.
The US Secretary of State said that he still satisfied the curiosity of the Russian president, and only he and Putin knows what was in the suitcase.
"It's a secret. Only President Putin and I know what’s there,” Kerry said.
