Putin will change to a Russian limousine in two years
The President of Russia will receive a car from the “Cortege” project, which provides for the creation of Russian production of cars for transporting top officials of the state in late 2017 - early 2018.
In 2016, 3,7 billion rubles (53 million dollars) were allocated for the project. In addition, according to the Minister of Industry and Trade Manturov, negotiations are ongoing with the Ministry of Defense, which became interested in armored SUVs.
As part of the “Cortege” project, four types of cars were developed - a limousine, a sedan, an SUV and a minivan.
It is known that the Porsche engineering department was involved in the development of power units for the Cortege.
According to Manturov, the limousine has been tested for about a year, and crash tests for sedans will begin in April. By 2020, it is planned to increase the lot to 4-5 thousand machines of each type.
