The US government counted the number of green cards issued to relatives of immigrants

The White House announced for the first time that the federal government counted the number of green cards issued between 2005 and 2015 for immigrants who came to the US to call other immigrants previously admitted to the country. These data show the complete picture of “chain migration”.

“For many years, a large number of immigrants have been coming based on the petition of previous immigrants,” said Fox News US Citizenship and Immigration Director Lee Cissna. “But this is the first time we'll really see the whole problem.” And legislators or policymakers at the Department of Homeland Security can do what they need to do to solve this problem.”

According to officials, over the course of 10 years, about 9,3 million new migrants migrated to the United States on a permanent basis due to “chain migration”. This type of immigration accounted for more than 70% of all immigration in that period, the White House said, adding that it had become the main source of low-skilled workers in the United States.

“These numbers are dangerous. They show that American immigration is almost entirely family-based," said a White House official who briefed Fox News about the data.

Mexico tops the list with 1,7 million migrants. More than 600 people migrated from India and the Philippines, and more than 000 people migrated from Iran.
