Carnivorous bacteria from Florida waters “ate” a young man
Florida-based 26-year-old Kason Eager died after being infected by carnivorous bacteria while swimming near the coast of Florida.
Kason Eager swam south of Pine Island Beach in the Wiki Wachi River. The guy was previously diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder, and this could make him more susceptible to these bacteria. He died two days after being infected. It is reported that since 2010, an 50 person has died from infection with such bacteria in Florida.
According to the Florida Department of Health, we are talking about one of Vibrio Vulnificus cholera vibrioes, which actively reproduces in warm water. It enters the bloodstream through open wounds, including minor scratches and cuts. Therefore, doctors advise not to swim in tropical regions, if there is even a small damage to the skin.
