The White House ended the meeting of Donald Trump and Barack Obama. At the end of the meeting, they made a small statement for journalists.

Addressing Trump himself, Obama said that he intends to help his success in every possible way. “We will help you because if you are successful, the whole country will be successful,” Obama said.

In turn, Donald Trump said that the format of the meeting was quite unexpected for him. “I expected the meeting to take 10 minutes. “We’re just getting to know each other—we’ve never met each other before,” Trump said. “I am very grateful that the meeting lasted almost an hour and a half. We discussed many different situations, both beautiful and difficult. I really hope for further assistance from Mr. President, including advice. I think he will help me explain the complex issues, the agenda.”

At the end, Trump turned to Obama: “Mr. President, I thank you for your attention, I hope that we will meet many, many more times.”

White House spokesman Josh Ernest said that Barack Obama is committed to ensuring the transfer of power to the new president. In an interview The Washington Post Ernest noted that he does not recall that Obama and Trump met earlier. Also, journalists say that the feud between Trump and Obama broke out in 2011, when a businessman sought to dismiss Barack Obama.
