New York breaks records in the number of tourists

In the past year, over the first 11 months, more than 60 millions of tourists visited New York. On this all-time record on Monday, the mayor of the city, Bill De Blasio, announced.

In total, 60,3 million people visited the city, which is 1,8 million more than last year - 58,5 million tourists. This year 59,7 was expected to see millions of guests, but the result exceeded all expectations.

Thanks to this tourist flow, 15 has added thousands of jobs in the city.

“World-famous attractions are always a magnet for tourists,” said Fred Dixon, head of NYC & Company, which promotes the metropolis.

Tourists are increasingly interested in more than just Manhattan. They are actively exploring other areas of the city - Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens and Staten Island.

Most of the city’s guests came from the US - 47,6 millions of Americans from other cities. About 12,6 million profits from foreign countries. Both values ​​are increasing every year, say the city authorities.

Also this year, the demand for hotels has jumped. Total tourists booked 34,9 million rooms, which is 1,2 million more than last year.

During this period, the largest number of guests were from the UK, followed by Chinese citizens in second place, followed by Canadians and Brazilians.
