China: number of avian flu infections reaches 30
Since the beginning of the year, the number of cases of H7N9 avian influenza in Guangdong Province of China has increased to 30. On Sunday, it became known that an 48-year-old man died in the city of Jieyang with such a diagnosis, and doctors estimate the condition of several more patients as critical.
According to experts, most cases of infection occur as a result of human contact with a live bird.
Now in some areas of the province, where the foci of the disease have been detected, there is a massive destruction of chickens and other poultry, TASS reports, citing local media. Everywhere bans on the sale of live poultry in the markets.
In China, bird flu was first diagnosed in humans in the spring of 2013. In 2014, more than 7 people fell ill with the H9N120 virus, 39 of whom died, writes Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
