California bans travel to four states

Just a few weeks before the inauguration of Donald Trump, in California, a bill is passed prohibiting state-paid business trips to where they discriminate against the LGBT community. So, if you are a public servant in California, you will not visit North Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee and Kansas anytime soon, writes The Huffington Post.

The law was passed last September and entered into force on January 1 of 2017. It is based on the Bill Assembly 1887 of the Year.

California legislators have established that “California must take steps to avoid supporting or funding discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.”

If you work in any of the following California industries, you will not be sent to the outlawed states this year:

• Government bodies
• Departments
• Tips, Boards
• Administration
• Commission

The ban includes travel for employees from the University of California, members of the board of the University of California, and the University of California. Of course, you can still visit North Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee or Kansas - at your own expense.

Other states have previously taken similar actions in response to anti-LGBT legislation.

In March 2016, Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo banned all non-essential travel by state to North Carolina and Missisypi.

Recall that in March 2016, North Carolina became the first state where accepted scandalous law that allows the use of toilets in public institutions in accordance with the sex of a person specified in the birth certificate. Similar bills were passed in 3 in other states: Mississippi, Tennessee and Kansas.
