American experts are preparing to build a floating city

The San Francisco-based Maritime Villages Institute is preparing for the construction and international legalization of the world's first floating city. As the Californian radio company KPCC reported on Monday, “a new type of human habitation in the sea may appear by 2020.”

Specialists of the Institute have been developing the idea of ​​a floating city for the past few years. At the same time, with the help of the Internet, they collect money for their project among interested parties.

The concept of such a city created by them is based on a number of provisions. So, it should consist of square modules with an area of ​​50 square meters. The construction of each will cost $ 15 million.

A block of 11-like modules of such platforms will be used to build a building that has residential apartments, as well as office and public premises. A square meter of housing in such a house will cost the buyer $ 5425.

The number of residents in the block ranges from 225 to 300 people. At the same time there is still room for a hotel on 50 places.

The cost of the block is $170 million.

“The floating city will be an autonomous political and social entity, with its own economy and taxes,” note the staff of the Institute of Maritime Settlements. They are now preparing an appropriate international agreement that will establish the legal status of such urban entities.

It is possible that the first floating city will be located near the state, which will sign the corresponding agreement with its official representatives. According to the KPC radio station, preliminary consultations are currently underway with a number of Pacific island states to create a similar city.
