In Georgia, found 26 missing children: they were victims of human trafficking and violence

"Operations in Atlanta and Macon, Georgia in August resulted in the rescue of 26 children and the arrest of nine criminal accomplices," police said in a statement.

Fifteen of these children have been victims of the sex trade. The criminals were charged with alleged crimes related to human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, as well as possession of drugs and weapons.

In addition to the Missing Children Directorate, officials said the South East Regional Task Force, the National Center for Missing Persons (NCMEC), and the state and local departments of Georgia were involved in the case.

The authorities said the missing child case was considered one of the most difficult cases due to signs of child trafficking for sexual exploitation and other high risk factors, including child exploitation, sexual abuse and physical abuse.

“When we hunt down fugitives, it's nice to know that we are putting the bad guy behind bars. But that sense of accomplishment is nothing compared to the search for a missing child, said Darby Kirby, head of missing children, in a statement. “It is difficult to express in words what we feel when we rescue a missing child, but I can tell you that this operation has affected each of us sitting here. We are working to protect them and provide them with the help they need. ”
