Heroin use is increasing in the US due to its low price.

The use of heroin in the United States has increased significantly over the past decade due to its low cost, experts say.

The number of people using heroin increased from 2002 to 2013 by 63%, according to a report by the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Experts attribute this increase to the fact that people taking painkillers are increasingly switching to cheaper heroin.

“Heroin use is skyrocketing across nearly every demographic group, and with that rise we are seeing a sharp rise in deaths,” says CDC Commissioner Tom Frieden.

According to the organization, more than eight thousand people died from heroin overdose in the 2013 year, which is almost two times more than in the 2011 year.
