List of closed offices and canceled events in South Florida

Hurricane Irma continues to move across the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean, therefore several municipalities announce closure due to the hurricane.

Miami dade

Mayor of Miami-Dade Carlos Gimenez announced that the district began evacuating people with special needs on Wednesday. On Thursday will begin the evacuation of residents from zones A and B.

Zone A covers a huge swath of coastal Miami-Dade County, including Key Biscayne, while Zone B covers Miami Beach.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday. All primary and secondary schools in Miami-Dade and Broward will also be closed on Thursday and Friday.

Belen Jesuit preparatory school announced that they will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

Ransom Everglades School will also be closed on Thursday and Friday.

Florida International University will be closed from Thursday through the weekend. All campus lessons and special events have been canceled.

Miami-Dade College announced that all campuses will be closed from 16: 00 on Wednesday and Sunday.

The University of St. Thomas will also be closed starting on Thursday and on weekends.

Barry University closes in the 16: 00 environment and remains closed until further notice.

Florida Memorial College in Miami Gardens will be closed on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Gulliver Schools has announced it will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

Miami-Dade lawyers and offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday. The Miami-Dade Attorney’s Office will also be closed on Thursday and Friday.

National Bark Biscayne is closed from Tuesday at 17: 30.

The Miami Convention Center will also be closed this weekend.

The art museum will be closed from Thursday to Sunday.

Broward

Officials said Broward County Public Schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

All primary and secondary schools in Miami-Dade and Broward will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

The School of American Heritage will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

All NOVA university city universities will be closed on Thursday.

As of Tuesday evening, no evacuations were ordered at Broward.

Monroe

All schools in the district will be closed from the beginning of Wednesday until further notice.

Key West International Airport will close on Wednesday evening for all commercial flights.

Florida International Airport Kays Marathon will remain open to general aviation until conditions worsen.
