Merkel is not confident in the success of negotiations with Putin

German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed doubts about the success of the upcoming talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the situation in Ukraine.

“It is still completely unknown whether we will be able to achieve a ceasefire as a result of these negotiations. We don’t know whether we will reach an agreement today or whether additional negotiations will be necessary,” Merkel said before flying to Moscow.

On Friday, talks should be held in Moscow between Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and Vladimir Putin on the situation in the east of Ukraine.

On the eve, the leaders of France and Germany visited Kiev and met with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, which lasted about five hours, writes BBC News.
