CNN resumes broadcasting in Russia

The American television station CNN resumed broadcasting on the territory of the Russian Federation on Thursday.

As before, CNN will not advertise on the Russian air.

Back in March, the channel received a new broadcasting license from Roskomnadzor for a period of 10 years.

Previously, CNN was broadcast in Russia as part of the license of the satellite operator NTV Plus, but in November 2014 the channel notified its Russian partners that it would cease broadcasting “in light of recent changes in Russian legislation.”

CNN was created in 1980 by Ted Turner; in Russia, CNN was established in 1983.
