'Avengers' and 'Mission Impossible' star hospitalized in critical condition after being injured while shoveling snow

American actor, two-time Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner, was seriously injured in an accident while shoveling snow. He is in critical but stable condition. The Guardian.

"We can confirm that Jeremy is in a critical but stable condition with injuries sustained in a weather-related accident while shoveling snow earlier today," a rep for the star said late on Jan. 1.

“His family is with him and he is receiving excellent care,” he added.

Renner was airlifted to the hospital. According to the star's neighbors, the actor was clearing a road about a quarter mile from his home in Nevada. Snow plow snowcat accidentally ran into one of the legs of the actor. This led to severe blood loss, a neighbor said.

Another neighbor, a doctor, placed a tourniquet on Renner's legs before the ambulance arrived. Police arrived at the scene around 20:00 pm on Sunday and confiscated the snowcat for investigation.

The 51-year-old actor has been nominated for two Academy Awards in his acting career for his roles in The Hurt Locker and The City. He rose to prominence for his role as superhero Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, in Marvel films, as well as his role in the Mission: Impossible franchise.

Renner owns a ranch near Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada. A region hit by a winter storm on New Year's Eve that left 35 homes without power. Last week, much of the US was hit by the "blizzard of the century", with at least 000 people killed across the country.

On December 13, Renner shared a photo of snow in the area on Twitter, writing, "Snowfall in Lake Tahoe is no joke."

On Instagram, he posted several videos of himself driving a snow plow. He captioned the video: "Almost done with sledding for the kids."

Renner will appear in the second season of Mayor of Kingstown, which will air in two weeks.
