Famous immigrants: Hollywood stars we mistakenly think are Americans
You will be surprised, but many of our favorite Hollywood actors are actually immigrants, writes the author of the PRO LIFE blog on Yandex Zen.
When we watch an American film or TV series, we usually assume that all the actors in them are actually from the United States. However, many of our favorite movie stars were actually born or raised outside of the United States.
Jim Carrey, Canadian
Jim Carrey was born in the Toronto suburb of Newmarket, Ontario. His mother is of Irish-Scottish-French descent, his father is French-Canadian. And even the original family name was written in French: Carré.
Keanu Reeves, Canadian
Keanu Reeves was born in Beirut, Lebanon, where his English mother met an American-Hawaiian lover who became Keanu's father. When the boy was 2 years old, his parents divorced, and the mother and son left to look for a better fate. They stayed in Sydney for a while, then moved to New York and eventually settled in Toronto, Ontario.

Christian Bale, Englishman

In 1957, when Bruce was only 2 years old, his father was fired from the army and he decided to take his family to New Jersey, USA. It was here that Willis graduated from high school and played his first roles in drama classes at a local college.
