Hawaii residents mistakenly reported rocket attack
Emergency warnings about the "threat of ballistic missiles," sent on Saturday to mobile phones to residents of the Hawaiian Islands, turned out to be a false signal, officials said The Washington Post.
“Ballistic Missile Threat in Hawaii. Seek shelter immediately. This is not a drill,” said the message, which users began sharing on social networks.
The message arrived at 8 in the morning local time. In 8: The State of Hawaii Emergency Management Agency in 20 Twitter wrote that there was no threat and notifications were sent by mistake.
In 8: 45 residents received a new notification, which reported that the first message was a false alarm.
“There is no threat or danger to the Hawaiian Islands. False notification,” the message said.
It is still not known how and why the false notification was sent and how many people received it. The message of a rocket attack caused panic.
